I have a curve, make it a wire, constraint the first and last points, play.. its all ok, but the wire never stopped, I play with the force model properties (spring/damping values) but I can`t to make it static.

You can use a Drag node to slow down your simulation.

By the way, I have made a scene using your description,
and all seems ok without drag.
