Well i've just installed houdini 10 on ubuntu….but i dont know how to run it…
please explain how can i add a launch/shortcut to the desktop too pliz.

If you've successfully installed there should be a Side Effects Software entry in the Applicatons menu.

The way I do it though is to source houdini into a shell, then go to the directory where I wish to work and launch it from there on the commandline.

So, I install houdini in the /opt directory; then I go into the directory of the version I choose to use ie: hfs10.0.365.
This is using a bash shell, so in that directory I do
“ source houdini_setup_bash ”, without the quotes. This initializes this shell so that it will run houdini.

Then I go to my working directory and type, houdini

done.

actually the question here is How to install Houdini in Ubuntu ? I have no idea about linux, just installed it specially to run houdini, but unfortunately I could not install it.
can anyone guide me :roll:
