Alex, I use particles with a modified sprite shader.
I have created an attribute called “temperature” linked to particule $LIFE in the popnet.
In the shader, temperature drives 3 ramps : alpha, color and emission.
The color ramp goes from grey to orange and yellow.
The alpha ramp is linear from 0 to 1 and start growing at $LIFE=0
Emission ramp is linear from 0 to 1, but start growing later that alpha.
