I'll like to see Houdini in his next version with this awesome tool implemented.

Houdini aside, we need paint package support.

I agree, most importantly we need 3d paint app support. Supposedly 3dcoat's developer is considering it, which is very interesting.

As for prman 15, you can currently use ptex for baking effects like ambient occlusion or creating cube face env maps. The results are a bit closer to their raytraced counterparts then current pointcloud solutions, so there is a good advantage to using Ptex in prman now.

The reason they opened it was to let it fly with others too. Both paint and render packages (as Wolfwood say, we need both of them).

I'm using Luxology's Modo to paint my textures and I really like the way it works. It would be nice to see this feature implemented in Houdini.
