displacement issue

For my model I used the reflective displacement preset material and used a displacement map for the look.

In the render I get fine grid lines as you can see in the picture.

So why is that?

the mesh is really dense and it looks like the fine grid lines have the same proportions as my faces, but I have no idea how to avoid that

How does it look when rendering with no displacement? If you're using a displacement map, maybe those grids are within your map…. or your map is being tiled over your geo and it's borders aren't seamless.

Without displacement, it looks like normal. The map is seamless and there are also no grids in the map

It could be a UV mapping issue. What sort of UV mapping are you using? If your UV mapping isn't seamless, your displacement map may be scattered across your surface… accentuating the grid faces.

i'm using a simple uv projection but i think I have found out the problem.

I have increased the shading quality from 1 to 3 and voilá the grid lines are gone away.
