I was having a problem like this. But I believe I have it resolved. Make sure your houdini.env has these three lines:
RMANTREE = “C:\Program Files\Pixar\RenderManProServer-21.7”
PATH = “$PATH;$RMANTREE\bin”
HOUDINI_DEFAULT_RIB_RENDERER = prman21.7
And, I stopped getting strange errors when I exited Houdini and restarted it by right clicking “run as Administrator”.

Hey all, I have a project I'm working on that requires cloth simulations on furry characters. I guess I'm just looking for general workflow suggestions. Can I simulate the fur and cloth together at the same time? Or, is there a workflow where I could optimize those fur guide and cloth interactions? Perhaps, for example, create a collision volume from the end points of the fur guides(?). Would I constrain the cloth points to the fur guides, or the animated skin geo? I have experience using Fur and cloth separately, but haven't done much with them together. Any suggestions on how to approach this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
