Thank you for the help clarifying this error.
I am now fetching the wedge node from within the ropnet and ran a successful tractor job.
I did however find that on the ropfetch I needed to be set "evaluate using" to "ROP node Configuration" Other wise it would seem to get stuck in some sort of loop and continuously re-write existing files.... however this working now. We are thrilled to have wedges up and running on the farm.

We are running houdini through tractor for sims and renders and its working quite well however when I submit a wedge by fetching the ropnet containing the wedge I am encountered with this error...
"ERROR: when batching is enabled, the specific ROP must have an output parameter and the preframe and postframe callbacks"
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to deal with this error?

Did you resolve your issue? I have had no success with distributed flip systems. grains and pyro work fine but flip will just sit in the Que and do nothing.

I solved this problem.. in a very strange way that may not work for some people.
Reinstalling my maya 2016 corrected the missing dll and allowed Houdini to properly run.
GO FIGURE…
at least I have a fresh system with Houdini!

So I've got a fresh system here its hella powerful and will run any current 3d software flawlessly EXCEPT houdini.. It wont even start. I get this “wont start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing”
Guys come on… what is this??? theres next to nothing help full online on this exact topic.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the most current (2015) Microsoft visual C++ redistributable …
still nothing? Generally I can get my self out of these situations without stress but this is UN-BELIEVABLE…
I'VE REFORMATTED AND REINSTALLED WINDOWS FRESH AND THIS STILL HAPPENS??? NOT COOL SIDEFX PLEASE GIVE ME A SOLUTION SO I CAN USE YOUR SOFTWARE!!

I should note that uninstalling houdini was the cause of my missing dlls and I know this since my maya and max both had missing .dlls and damaged c++ files at the the same moment in time.
however below I have solved the problem.
