Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Secondary Fracture

Hi all, I have a simple fracturing simulation done here. But I want to create secondary fracturing. Meaning the fractured pieces will further fracture into smaller pieces. I tried adding another voronoi fracture node and another dop network. But it doesn't seem to work. Anyone got any ideas how to proceed? And is there a way to control the secondary fracture when to break or must there be a object that needs to interact with the primary fracture pieces in order for it to break? Many thanks!
Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Getting the inside group out from voronoi fracture node

Hi all, I am trying to emit particles from a voronoi fracture simulation. My first idea was to emit particles from the inside group of the voronoi fracture. But the problem is that the dynamics which is done in the dopnetwork is way down the hierarchy after the voronoi fracture node. And I wanted the particles to only emit after the dynamics. But when I tried putting a delete node after the dopnetwork to delete everything except the inside group, I couldn't. The problem is that when I tried searching for the “inside” group or even typing the “inside” out, the error is that the inside group couldn't be found.
I attached a hip file, to further explain the problem. Hope you guys could help. Many thanks!

I've attached an example of grouping by normal direction with some dot product magic. All the work happens in the VOP SOP, tweak the target vector and angle tolerance to choose what direction normals you want grouped.
Hope that helps!
Hey thanks a lot, I am still trying to understand it but I get the overall concept. I will post questions here if I am still in any doubt. Thanks again!

Hi all, I am trying to group a bunch of specific points to emit particles from. My first idea was grouping it according to normals, but I do not know how to only group the bunch of points with similar normal directions together and not group the rest of the points. I also thought of grouping them by just dragging over the points and making a group out of it, but it isn't very procedural. I also tried grouping the points according to a boundingbox but as my geometry is moving over time, the boundingbox couldn't maintain the grouping of the points. Can anyone give me some ideas on how should I approach this problem? Thanks a lot.
