I playing with H15 Apprentice, and i did the same test, just to see whats happen, and it's works, even w “no supported intel HD400”, it's quite surprising that H14 crash all the time, but H15 works fine until now…
Viewport now shade polygons without inverted normals, no more freeze screen and so on…
but, maybe, it's a lucky day, and i didn't test well..
but those crashs listed by Enivob, not happens on my mac mini w intel HD400 and 10.10.5
At least on Yosemite…
Anyone else?

You can use your pyro flame as Geometry light, it's may slow your render, but if you use a PBR and GI light to cache your photon map, to reduce noise, it's may be faster than using many lights instanced…
Also, your scene will be more realistic…
cheers

Hi, just in case…
Did you “expose/create” parameter for your file?
i mean, did you setup the path of your i3d files outside the CVEX network?
in cvex context (i think in any vex context) you cannot use “expressions”
like $F.ext for example…
And, yes you can use a isosurface directly instead i3d, there's a node called volume sample from file, you can use same setup that CMIVFX, also you can manipulate your iso in SOPs with Volume Vop… there's a good topics of Volume setups around sidefx and Odforce forums…
cheers

Hi,
I'm working on a scene with a hero cloud, i'm used many technics to archive a rolling cloud.
the better result that i got it's using custom field and adding vortices, also i rendered as Volume Procedural using CVEX…
But i wonder if i can calculate rest field directly from upres solver.
I found in Houdini Docs that even if i can calculate it , it will be useless for shading purposes …
I'm try … with no results…
It's possible?
If not, do i need simulate a very high resolution with noise ? is it the only way in DOPs?
So, for now, i'm using a trick to make my own rest on upres smoke in SOPs, but i think that it's not the better idea, but it's the only way that i found to make a high res rest to using o my clouds…
Any idea?
sorry for bad english…
