After playing around a bit more I just stumbled over the render geomatry settings node which offers all the stuff I was looking for.
Cheers!

Solaris and Karma » Volume sampling xpu in 19.5

Hi,
does anyone know where I control the sampling/quality of a volume render with xpu?
I remember there was a parameter like 'doorsize' or similar in the render settings prior to 19.5.
But I can't find anything in 19.5.
Cheers!

I need to do this too in order bypass maxons incredibly stupid move that I cannot use older RS versions with the new licensing system. So one .env loading RS 2.7 to export proxies and RS 3.0 to test render them.
Thanks a lot.

Technical Discussion » Get attribute from alembic camera (maya export)

Hi,
I need some help to get an extra attribute 'EndFrame' from a alembic camera comming from maya.
So far my guess and try brought me here:
root = hou.pwd().node('../..') return __import__("_alembic_hom_extensions").alembicGetCameraDict(root.hdaModule().GetFileName(root), '/M', root.get('EndFrame')
That is the python code I put into a new float parameter I put onto the camera view where e.g. the focal length parameter is located.
But it is not working. As I am a noob to python I am really stuck.
The path to the camera is this /obj/Test.abc/M/MShape.
The camera parameter 'EndFrame' is located on the transform node in maya.
Thanks for your help!

Solaris and Karma » Volume/VDB Visualiser in LOPs opengl

Hi,
since the opengl in LOPs looks very nice I wonder how I would visualise my volume/vdb caches in LOPs like I do in SOPs with the volumevisualiser node or the pyropostprocess. Seem like my pyroshader in the matlib doesn't affect the opnegl viewport.
Cheers

Hi,
I am pretty new to Ubuntu too but I guess it has to do with read/write permission.
Google for chmod
Will be something like sudo chmod 755 /media/mountname.
Cheers

I got issues with bullet or rbd interacting with grains too.
When I shoot a sphere onto a granular sheet the sphere just goes through the grains not experiencing any slowdown.
Dropping a sphere onto a pile of wet sand the sphere bounces back higher as it's initial position … so it is gaining energy … reducing bounce is ignored .. at least the result looks the same.
Some help would be nice.
Cheers

Technical Discussion » ripple solver and velocity

Hi,
I am trying to create a small creek water surface with the ripple deformer.
It works pretty well by deforming a part of the rest SOP with a animated water texture. But this way I don't have any vel in X or Z. Only Y. Makes sense to some degree .. but if I use e.g. a metball in a magnet I get vel values in all 3 directions. The problem with metaball or well it is probably the magnet/bulge op it is very very slow compared to simple rest mesh manipulation via a attribute VOP e.g..
Is there a way to get the vel in X, Y, and Z from the ripple solver feeding him a mesh which is not deformed via metaballs?
Thanks!
