Hi all,
I am new to Houdini Engine and today I tried to test it using Houdini Indie and the UE4 plugin (in UE4.18).
I made a simple digital asset(DA) containing sphere, mountain ,and timeshift node, with only one parameter “Frame” which is the frame number input of the timeshift node. Then I brought the DA to UE4.
What I expected is to change the “Frame” parameter in UE4 and get different shape.
But it does not work. The frame paramter always goes back to 1 after I change it's value.
Could you help me understand why it doesn't work?

Hi all,
I want to make a custom SHOP in HDK.
The SHOP should be able to accept a series of custom VOP and implement the SOP_Clerk mentioned in the SOHO document, so I can build the SHOP inside it and output the SHOP in soho work-flow.
Is there any example or instruction on this topic?
I have searched HDK and only find headers about SHOP, there are so many virtual function unexplained inside. I really need some advises.

Hi all,
Please see the attachment.
I want to render curves in houdini with varying width using Renderman.
In the scene file, if I add attributes of constant width, the rendering and the output rib file is ok.
But when I add attributes of varying width, the render output nothing.
The error message I got is like this:
{ERROR} “In correct number of varying float width ”width" valuees specified for RiCurves (got 601, expected 300)
Is it a bug? or I got some wrong settings?
p.s.
I have added Rendering Parameters for Renderman on the curves Obj to ensure the rendering work.

I found that once the file “test_func.so” was put into ~/houdiniX.Y/dso
The function can work properly.
But in the script dialog, when I type ‘test_func()’, the dialog still
can not recognize it.
(for example, if I type 'near", there should be a prompt box showing nearpoint())
I think there should be a right way to set VEXdso file.
Did any one familiar with this?

Hello~
Recently I try to use Fur node with guide curves from other application and do some dynamic simulation.
I found I cannot use these guide curves to guide the growth of fur node.
Please see the attached file.
while using internal created test curves (set obj/test/switch2 to 0), the fur node works ok.
Using curves from other app (set obj/test/switch2 to 1), the fur node tells me “two sources have unmatched geometry”.
I have checked the number of points on each curve is the same.
I also try to add guideorigin to my curves.(in /obj/test/foreach1/attribcreate__guideorigin)
With the guideorigin attrib added, no warning ocuurs in Fur node but furs are not guided.
I also found in the case of internal test curves, we do not have to set quideorigin and the fur node works.
I really don't understand what the “unmatched geometry” means and how the guideorigin attrib works in Fur node.
Please give me some suggestion to figure this out.

Hi all,
I have a problem with copy stamp. It's hard to describe, please see the attached image.(sorry i cannot provide hip)
In the root node of the graph I have a sop containing many groups.
The two delete sop in red delete all non selected groups except the one from copy stamp. I fill `stamp(“../copy1”,“cy”,0)` into the group field in delete sop.
The Dop network do the simulation according to the geometry after the delete sop. The copy sop use stamp variable cy and value $CY.
I want to use the copy stamp to apply the simulation result over every group.
Actually, I did it. I saw correct result once but after that I cannot see it anymore.
I can only get one piece of group doing the simulation now.
Any suggestion about this situation?

I find the answer.
Using Print VOP,
In the field “format string”, fill “prefix%”.
use the import attribute as the input of Print VOP.
connect the output of Print VOP to AddAttrib.
Done.

The Attribute name in node has to be a string composed of a prefix and a number comes from point attribute.
How can I do this?

Hello everybody,
The question might stupid because I am not familiar with shader.
I have Cd Attribute on each polygon primitive.
Is it possible to set color to that polygon and each polygon presents that color only, without color blending.
I need this on view port and the rendering output.

It really helps a lot.
Previously I did a cloth-object penetration test using “group” node with bounding object as grouping method. I found the result is not so accurate. The polydoctor node really did a good job, better than group node.
