Apple is driving a nail into his own Achilles heel. He lost the north of the professional sector a long time ago. he had in his hands the Shake application that was a standard in composition and lost that sector. Nuke is what Shake could have been. With Metal, it is the same mistake to close the system to have a blockage of property rights, without taking into account the professional sector and its needs.

What software does it offer at any time in the modeling, send only a fragment of the modeling to any operator for the particles to happen or any other madness? I think that is the essence of Houdini. I do not think they change to make it parametric, Houdini has what it takes to model, in his own way.

If you work professionally in the CGI, I recommend a high-end PC with Windows, so I've worked with Mac for many years, but Apple's policy of a closed system greatly conditions your work. I'm one of those who thinks that OSX is by far the best operating system, but hardware is not. A high-quality PC ridicules the best mac. Linux is very similar to OSX, but it has the great disadvantage of some drivers and tools like Zbrush that are not for this platform.

The name of the company says it clear SideFX. Could be called Side3d, makes it clear that houdini was created for the vacuum that was in quality Fx. Today is pretty good in terms of modeling, formerly it was worse and things were very good, I think it's the same as always. It is not the arrow, it is the Indian. Just get used to what you have and dry match. Greetings to all.

Please Denoiser in Mantra will be welcome too

They should also update and optimize the specular and the IOR, it's a bit gross.

Undoubtedly houdini will give you a plus in your art concepts, for the freedom of creation at an unsuspected level. But it is also true that you have to see houdini as a professional athlete you have to train every day to reach the goal. If you leave it for a while you lose status quickly as a professional athlete. In abstract concepts Houdini is the best, but it is also painful to master fluently and the help is an Egyptian hieroglyph.

Discuss if it is a sacrilege to use something from third parties in H, it is from children, everyone who uses what they want if it is easier for them. The talent in programming and in animation have in common to try to look for simplicity. Creativity comes from simplicity, Bon Jovi knew it. On the other hand I am convinced when Houdini becomes a standart tool, the plugins will be under the stones, and the discussion will be different.

This discussion reminds me of the times of Pov-ray. How difficult it was to make a sphere and how easy it was to do the same with Softimage3D even made movies . I think everyone should find their way in houdini and be especially productive to do many things without complicating their lives.
On the other hand I think that the future of the CGI goes through ease of use and real time. Almost nobody programs shaders (RSL) of renderman, substance makes it better and easier, I think that is the path of CGI.
Greetings to all!

Houdini Lounge » Learning Houdini - Steep Learning Curve

Houdini is an extremely professional tool, which has its place in certain areas of the CGI, it is a complex tool and that means that its learning is long, all the control offered by houdini has its cost, it is sometimes slow to do things that with other packages you do it automatically, the nodes can end up being endless in complex scenes, this whole process takes time to compile and you can see the performance, but the good side is that you have all the control over what you are doing. No magical things all this amount of control must be optimized. I would not recommend houdini for general things. I repeat that this tool is for a professional use where there is a work team with very complex scenes and that require concrete effects. To enjoy the CGI there are other packages such as Maya or Blender that are really quick for general things. Forgive my English field. Greetings to all!
