I was trying to solve wierd slowdowns in rendering. Rendering rather complex scene in solaris karma XPU. machines are dual 4090, and since wayland rise and issues with X11 I had to put windows 10 on them.

3 machines: 111, 112, and 113, all with dual 4090

BTW 115 is single 3090.. just for comparison.. where my dual 409 0was rendering 3h and single 3090 in hour and a bit..

First, 110 and 111 were rendering ok, and 112 was like 4 times slower.
I tried driver reinstal and nothing helped.
I reinstalledit to fresh Windows, put only Houdini and the latest studio drivers on it, and now 112 is rendering way faster than 111 and 110



No idea what is going on. Could any other installed programs cause it to be slower for some reason.. maya or AfterFX...
ANyway, this is a huge performance loss. I'm going to re-install other machines as well and see how it goes.


Just to add, dual 4090 111 machine rendering for 1h22minutes.. 1 frame done, and second frame at 22%.. at all that time both GPUs are running 100% confirmed on gpu-z...



Can;t wait for Houdini to finally get proper wayland support to go back to linux...

That's a crazy difference.

I also experience suspicious render times on our Deadline Windows farm so I'm putting a lot of faith in this thread. But in our case, render nodes are also used by people, so it could be attributed to other programs being open and eating up resources. Maybe I should also try formatting one of them to see if it helps.

does the new install have VBS disabled?
