Hi everyone,
I’m trying to confirm the correct workflow for using the HoudiniHairProcedural with an animated character (a cat).
My current setup:
Groom is done on the rest pose of the cat (standing straight, neutral tail). From this rest setup I have:
• Skin mesh
• Guide curves
• Generated hairs
Then the cat is animated (e.g. laying on the ground, rolling, moving tail). I use a Guide Deform SOP to transfer the rest guides onto the animated skin, and then run those guides through a Vellum sim for wind effects.
In Solaris:
• I feed the animated skin + simulated guides + the rest hairs into a HoudiniHairProcedural LOP.
• I set the Deform Mode to Capture and Deform.
Questions:
Is this the correct workflow?
• Is the procedural intended to always take the rest hairs (together with animated skin + animated/simmed guides)?
• Or would it be more correct to instead generate hairs from the first frame of the animated guides and feed those into the procedural?
My workflow for HoudiniHairProcedural with animated cat
