I am working in a scene with a ground fracture simulation that has around 15k packed geo primitives in it, and the viewport performance has become so bad the scene is impossible to work with.
With Vulkan enabled, switching contexts or changing the active geometry in SOPs will cause Houdini to stop responding with ~10% of the CPU cooking for 5+ minutes. ESC key does not recover the session, and no info is printed in the bottom console bar, so this does not seem to be related to cooking.
In OpenCL mode, the viewport behaves as expected even with the number of objects (performance monitor specifies any delay is due to cooking).
Specs: Windows 10 AMD 7900XTX 16GB VRAM 8 Core I7 @5GHZ each 64GB RAM
also in the past i can render (in opengl) very large scene in xpu but now with vulkan its unusable to render in large scene (because of vulkan architecture) and sidefx deprecated opengl . i think its wrong move from sidefx to deprecated opengl because optimizing vulkan to be in the same level as opengl(that optimized for years) its will take a few versions of houdini to get there(i think) and i was using nvidia card.
