Ok! Sorry for my English … ))
I have found mantra to be a very slow render …
It was my mistake … realy …
This is not mantra-to-mplay communication problem.
Everything in Houdini is slow !
I have started matra from command line with “h”
mantra - h
it takes about 20 seconds to print help
I tried out several *.exe files (mplay, gwavefront … +
others) it always takes about 20-30 seconds to print
help or start process …
what`s the problem ? my OS is windows 2003 server …
all antiviruses and firewalls are off.

If you're on Windows, the first time when running any executable is slow since Houdini executables rely on loading a large number of dll's. It should be much faster the next time to try loading the same .exe.

That's odd. Running “time mantra -h” in my shell consistently gives me something under 2 seconds. The only thing I can think of is that it is spending very slow time loading from disk. Verify that your CPU usage is not at 100% already and that you don't have excessive network connections open (just in case).

I wonder if anyone else can check on Windows Server 2003.
