just wondering where the vex compiler is if im running a mac?

To find that out, launch Houdini Shell.terminal (in Finder under /Applications/Houdini 10.0.xxx) and type
which vcc
This will print the path to the VEX compiler, which is something like
/Library/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/10.0.xxx/Resources/bin/vcc
