I get errors when i launch houdini.please tell me whats the fix

Remove the SVGIcons.cache and SVGIcons.cache.serial files in your $HOME/houdini11.0/config/Icons directory.

You'll need to post more information about your system - Houdini version, Windows version, 32b/64b, etc.

Make sure your $HOME/houdini11.0 directory is writable by Houdini. Beyond that, I'm not sure what you can do.

yeah i think that the problem
it was ticked read only
but whenver i start houdini,its still the same!
cant get past the errors

whenever i right click on the folder and untick read only in the houdini folder.
Its not getting set.It gets changed.could you tell me how to make it writeable?

If you haven't saved anything in it, I'd just try deleting the houdini11.0 directory altogether. Or Cut/Paste move it to somewhere else.

I had the same problem with Houdini 12.5 on a Windows 7 machine. I followed your advice, copied and pasted the houdini folder altogether from one drive to another and now Houdini seems to be running normally.

The last suggestion did work indeed. Just faced the same problem as mentioned by vigneshwarviswanathan. Not sure why something would go corrupted with Houdini Apprentice after 3 months of solid daily use. Great piece of software though. Keep refining it SideFX! Thanks.

My problem was that the Houdini 16.5 folders and sub-folders were set to read-only.

I could disable their read-only by unchecking in folder / sub-folder properties, and immediately start Houdini, but by the time Houdini loads, the folders are reverted back to read-only.

Finally, I found out that my Bit Defender protection software was doing this. In my version of Bit Defender, I had to go to my Application Access, to allow Side Effects applications to access the content of those folders.

Phew!
