When I start houdini I get a small window saying that it is connecting to the license server and it stays like that for 20 minutes now. Anyone have this problem?? Anyone have a solution?

Have you got your license yet? Or are you trying to get your license?

Are you using a proxy server to connect to the internet? If you are, you can set it in hkey under File -> Preferences. Check ‘Use HTTP proxy’ & then enter the proxy server information there.

Cheers!

Well It's been almost 3 hours now. I uninstalled it, and rebooted and reinstalled and rebooted. I only get a small window That says Connecting to License Server. with small balls animating on a black bakground.

This is the Apprentice Edition.

Thanks!

Are you able to get your license during the installation process?

Also, which Service Pack are you using? Internet connection with DHCP? Or a dial-up connection?

Did you get the Connecting to License Server window when you try to start Houdini?

Cheers!

Allright. I am using the Apprentice Edition of Houdini
I didnt get a license during Installation (should I have?)
I am using SP3 for win2k
I get the connecting to license server window when I try and start anything in Houdini.
I uninstalled again rebooted, logged in as administrator, reinstalled Houdini and rebooted.
I can get into the License administrator as admin, but when I go to get the key, it says my email and password are incorrect.
When I try and start Houdini as myself (have admin privelages) I get stuck.

Help please!

thanks - adam (eager to get houdini-ing!)

Login as admin & try to get a license again. Did you forget the password?

If you got everything right, please start the hkey's diagnostic tool by going to View -> Diagnostic Information…

In the ensuing window, please click ‘Save…’ to save the information to a text file. Then post the information here.

Please let me know how it goes.

Cheers!

I did not get a password. The License manager mentioned something about Houdini Online Services I cant find any reference to that on the Houdini website. Maybe that is the key??

Thanks, adam

I figured it out.

I launched Houdini from the Admin account and installed a non-commercial license, as opposed to just launching the License administrator. I got the license installed logged back in as myself and im off!!

Thanks for your help.
