Hi folks -

Follow up to my own post…

Does anyone out there have a working Linux installation of Houdini using a nVidia card?

If so, please post your specs (type of card, version of driver, version of Houdini, version of Linux).

Thanks!

Only about half the users on this forum.. Run a search for ATI. Those cards seem to have history with houdini

I have two very successful instalations on suse 10.
one is quadro fx1400 go and the second is ti4600.
I don't even want to know driver specifications. Just hit “download nvidia driver” in yast and everything went smoothly.

suse is great

Fedora core 4 - 2.6.14 SMP
KDE 3.4.0-6 Red hat

QUADRO FX 4500
PCI Express 16X
Driver Version 8178
2 Flat 19" LCD

Machine

Pentium 4 - 2.8 Dual-Dual Core
4 Gig Ram
800 Gig HD

Houdini is amazing on linux, one or two UI problems with the sculpt and paint SOP but other than that, its rock solid and im never touching windows - houdini again
i can easily rotate a 100 000 box SOPS, or COOK any chop system , when my windows box gives up in 2 minutes, this box can successfully COOK something for over 2 hours

Hope this helps

Hi,

I'm running Houdini Apprentice 8.0.341 on Suse 9.2 (2.6.8-24.19) with NVIDIA 6800GT driver version 1.0-8178. I'm having no issues at the moment but I'm just learning Houdini so probably not pushing it hard enough to see anything bad.
