Houdini forces support an acceleration mechanism called the Default Operation. The force nodes default to Set Initial which means the values contained within the node are only evaluated on the start frame of the simulation. Even if you animated some of the parameters, the value used is only the value in the fields detected on the first frame. You can change this Default Operation by choosing Set Always. This means the values in the fields will be evaluated every frame instead of just the first frame.

There's a builtin ‘Wind Tunnel Direction’ on /obj/pyro_sim -> Initial Data tab
