Growing dynamic curves from source points?

Hello, I am a beginner Houdini user and I am trying to replicate an effect where curves grow out from source points and are dynamic, collide with each other and are affected by forces/gravity.

I found this [www.tokeru.com] great example on cgwiki. “Grain emitted noodles” (about halfway down)

Basically this is exactly what I am looking for, however, the curves aren't actually “attached” to the source, so if the emission stops or the source moves, the strands completely become unattached. I want the curves to grow to a determined length and then remain attached to my source.

Is there any way to accomplish a growing effect but have the curves attached to the mesh similar to the way they are attached in this image?

Any help would be appreciated!
