HDA not showing landscape in UE4

Hi everyone,

I have a weird bug or maybe it's intended. I want to set up a workflow where I can import simple heightmaps created in photoshop for the base shape of small islands. This works great with the Terrain Layer Import or the HF File and Project workflow to an HF Terrain.

Now the problem. Whenever I try to load the Landscape HDA into my UE4 level it stays empty. I tried to disconnect my own HF File and just use a generic HF with some noise and TADA it appears. IF I then try to reconnect my own HF file it doesn't update.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

Ok, I fixed this. If you use an ROP or GEO input you need to define the absolute path instead of the $HIP path. I thought the HE converts this automatically

Hi,

That's actually expected, since $HIP refers to the location of the currently saved hip file in Houdini.

When using your HDA with Houdini Engine, you do not have a saved hip file, thus $HIP won't resolve in the same manner as it did when you were in Houdini.
