It would be great to have a full screen option. Of course I have Houdini on my main desktop for serious work but when I need to do things on my MacBook the Houdini window is a bit small. Cinema 4D has a full screen option that really makes a big difference. Even if I hide the dock, the window won't expand past where the dock was. I've minimized all the UI bits to help the situation but being able to click that little green button in the top left would make my life so much easier.

Not officially supported, so it tends to be a hit or miss but can try it:

SideFX told me by email yesterday 2022-08-28

<<Our developers are working on Fullscreen support.>>

I tried to improve the situation all by myself.
Lost hours fiddling with it.
1 - On Ubuntu Linux I managed to auto hide the Dock in the settings. (Hide left dock)
2 - Installed "gnome shell extensions" https://extensions.gnome.org/ [extensions.gnome.org]
3 - Installed https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1287/unite/ [extensions.gnome.org]
4 - Installed https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/545/hide-top-bar/ [extensions.gnome.org]
5 - Installed sudo apt install gnome-tweaks

In the extension app or gnome-tweaks...
1-Click on Unite settings then set Hide window titlebars -> Maximized (Hide window title bar)
2-Hide Top Bar (Hide top screen bar)

It worked for a day, then a Ubuntu update made hide top bar incompatible.

I tried with your python scrip to play with qt window settings, it was not working at all. I even managed to mess the code by forcing window position and size enough that I had to reinstall Houdini because it would crash on start.

All of this would be a serious problem for any productivity app.
It would take them a maximum of a day to implement this required basic feature.
I hope they are working on it right now.
It should have been there 20 years ago.

I am not happy and this is affecting my first impression of Houdini.
This makes Blender look like a more modern and professional tool.

Otherwise, I love everything else in Houdini.
Solaris and Karma are a really interesting new workflow that will open many possibilities.

Hi there,

It would be better if you posted your finding in another section - this is for issues specific to the Apple silicon port of Houdini.

For those that may see this in the future, native fullscreen support on macOS was added in 19.5.

Yeah, added, useable, yet still some imperfections to fix for fullscreen mode.

For one example, middle mouse on nodes often causes flips to another desktop (using just the one monitor on MacBook). For another, on opening Houdini, a rather big gap shows up at the upper top.
