Magnets in Motion
Apr 27, 2025
Heavily inspired by real footage of magnet grain clumping together and forming unique spikey shapes, I challenged myself to do the same.
It could always get a bit better, but the enemy of good is better, so there is no need for perfectionism, only Just Do It.
I used the most basic Houdini tools for this one, which include POP Solver, POP Grains, minpos, and of course couple of forces to sculpt the shapes.
Renderwise, it was a bit challenging to find the best camera angles without the need to re-adjust the lighting every single time ( I'm lazy)
Also rendering 6mil particles with instances is doable, but not easy to shade and light in real-time.
