i've got 4 paint nodes set in the EDITABLE NODES section of an HDA, but if i enter the HDA and try to view the GREEN node for example by clicking on it's view button, houdini does nothing and continues to view the RED node. same for the BLUE and ALPHA nodes. somehow houdini is locked and only lets you see the RED node when you're in the HDA.

anyone know what i'm missing?

Editable doesn't let you change which node is marked for Display. You can wire up all 4 Attribute Paint nodes to a Switch, and possibly to another Switch (something like, "debug mode: view red|green|etc.")

Hello. Easy workaround is to wrap Attribute Paint nodes in their own separate subnetworks. You can just dive inside to view the node and paint. Houdini will isolate the viewport to that context and allow you to paint without seeing other nodes. Just make sure to add your subnetworks in Type Properties > Node > Editable Nodes

James Robinson has a great tutorial going in depth on this topic with other methods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEfFO4VoslY [www.youtube.com]
