OTOY finally did it. OSX users now have a GPU renderer option once again. I am cautiously optimistic that this is a good development moving forward, and hopefully OTOY will lead the way to others for more Metal development (looking at you upcoming GPU Karma).

It's nice to finally have a GPU renderer for newer macs. It's buggy but no doubt it's blazing fast on my Mac Pro.

Doesn't seem like there are too many Octane users on Houdini though. I guess most folks doing GPU rendering on Houdini are on RS?

Originally Octane had a really poor integration with Houdini. I think it's improved considerably over the years, and ironically the person who does the Octane integration (Juanjo) is the same guy who does it for Redshift.

Nonetheless, Redshift got a stronger foothold with Houdini users earlier than Octane did and it still holds.
