Can I only use it for 1 year and then it stops working and I have to pay 199$ again to continue using it!

Download Apprentice version and test how it behaves on your machine. Indie Version is only different because of license.
It should work you can test how stable it is on your particular configuration.

BUT I´m not really sure about one thing… If you buy Houdini Indie for 199$ can you just use it for 1 year and then you have to pay 199$ again?
Or can I use it but gets no upgrades?!
