Branch Off in Scene View Dec. 1, 2007, 1:53 p.m.

Hello,

in Houdini 8 it used to be possible to create a branch in Scene View by pressing “Shift” when selecting the desired operator. Nowhere in help or in the forum I can find how to do this in H9 even though I think it's very useful. Is it actually still possible?

Thanks and greetings!

Trace SOP with COP slowing down Houdini July 30, 2007, 9:53 a.m.

Hello again,

since there is a problem when using COPs I did another search and found the following forum threads:

http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=6141&highlight=cook+cop [sidefx.com]
http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=5873&highlight=cook+cop [sidefx.com]

Those discuss the problem I think, but unfortunately it seems this doesn't help a lot. The Trim COP didn't help me, putting the frame scopes of each COP to the first frame and removing display flag didn't as well. Only decreasing COP resolution and putting a frame number in Trace SOP's “COP Frame” helped a little. So I'm out of luck I guess . Well, but thanks for viewing.

Greetings

Trace SOP with COP slowing down Houdini July 29, 2007, 12:51 p.m.

Hello,

I'm pretty new to Houdini and going thru “The Magic Of Houdini” book with Apprentice. I found that Houdini animation playback slows down to a crawl when using the Trace SOP with a COP node. When I change “COP Frame” from $F to a number, removing the animation, it gets faster, but still stays considerably slower than without a COP selected in Trace SOP. Since this SOP shouldn't recook each frame when deleting the channels and inserting a number I wonder where this extreme slowdown is coming from, if this is normal and if one can do something about it :?:

Thanks in advance and greetings
