Labs Building from patterns controls not working in HDA April 27, 2023, 10:15 a.m.

Hi all, I have found an issue where adding the styles menu from the Labs Building from patterns tool to a HDA (for use in Unreal) bricks the multi parm menu and it stops working. I can get it to make 1 new entry for the styles (group and pattern string inputs) but the styles multi parm menu wont go over 1.

For reference in screen shot the Right Parameter window is the "add building styles" menu dragged into the HDA controls, the + button will not add any other styles, it will however minus the one style there. these updates are also visible on the buildings from pattern node.

When I break the connection of the styles control on the labs node it will work again and allow more styles. Even with the other group and pattern string inputs still linked and still working from what i can see.
Also trying to copy parameter and past reference manually to control the styles does not work.

Not sure what is going wrong here.


EDIT: I fixed this by creating a new HDA and brining in all the parts of my previous building tool into it. the issue of the multi Parameter menu not working correctly when used as HDA controls seem to be isolated to the original HDA. a new blank HDA with the labs building tool from patterns worked with no issues.

In case anyone stumbles onto this thread, I had this issue also. What fixed it was adding a clean node with remove attributes after the object merge node (or what ever node is bringing in the mesh box object from unreal into Houdini.) Unreal is passing some data from the box into Houdini that does some thing odd to the orients of the boxes, regardless if you set them up in the correct angles / pivots with the building utility node.
