Dynamics ROP Jan. 14, 2011, 5:40 p.m.

Hi, I tried using the dynamics ROP today, and found it telling me this was not allowed in the NC version of Houdini. After extensive searching I cannot find any references to this restriction. I guess my question is: Why is this disabled for Non-Commercial version of Houdini?

You can imitate the behavior by just placing a FILE node in the DOP, and playing the frames.. So even though we can do the same, we are not allowed to do it the easier way?

Seems like an oversight to me, so does anyone know why this is disabled?

Thanks for your time

Problem Following Auto Rig Tutorial April 15, 2010, 3:29 p.m.

Hey i'v got the same issue as listed in the first post, where after I have matched the definition, all controls on the animation rig become unable to move .. in fact even if I change the values within the animation data properties that get shown via the refresh import .. however I have control of the points BEFORE i match the definition.. i can rotate them and move them, as soon as i get the node to go from red-> blue it all stops working…

I confirmed I have a library path set, I exported the proxy geometry.. not sure what's wrong .. any ideas?

Edit:
I managed to get the animation rig to turn green and KEEP the controls by doing this:
-created the animation rig (via button)
-refreshed the imports
-confirmed I could control the points
-then I went back to the auto rig, and chose “modify rig” and hit the button, this turned the animation rig to green, and kept the controls

I'm not sure why this even worked, but I'm also unsure why I lose control if I do it the way suggested in the quad auto rig tutorial ..

Mind if I ask for some broader tech details on this? Trying to wrap my head around the workflow used to create this… Obviously not looking for the tiny details .. But is this all one geometry object? is it just very hand crafted small primitives just added to each other in large amounts?

I assume you just make the one “part” and then instance it to the larger object?

Really awesome work. Love seeing it evolve. Would be wicked to see even earlier shots.

Cheers
