Is there anyway to grouping or select fur guides?

I was struggling with making long hair in houdini.

I'd like to select some specific guides and groom it using grooming tool(screen brush) like other fur tools.

Any good solution or tip for grooming long and complex hair?

I have been struggling with rendering fur in renderman for houdini for days.
Almost about to give it up
