Performance monitoring nodes on the farm (without gui) Feb. 13, 2022, 9:35 p.m.

Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to profile nodes when houdini runs simulation caches without gui (e.g. on a render farm using hengine). I'd like to see more verbosity of cook times of nodes to quickly spot potential slow downs, when wedging things or just running a chain of caches. Is it possible to use performance monitor for that, to lets say print out top 5-10 longest cooking nodes?

Exporting different l-system parts grouped to maya QUESTION Jan. 22, 2015, 5:42 p.m.

Hi all,

I am pretty new to houdini. But I am doing a project that requires l-systems. However, i must export these l-systems to maya.

The l-system that i created is a flower. It has blooming flower head, leaves and stem.

I was able to use alembic format to successfully export the geometry with all of the animation of l-systems to maya. Everything runs fine, but it has no shaders. How would i be able to export out the mesh with different parts of the l-system grouped up (like seperate group for leaves, peddals etc.) , so i could apply materials in maya quickly without having to select groups of faces manually in maya, which would take quite a long time?

I searched and searched, but most of the time the tips and results would just not work.

Any help is greatly appreciated :?:
