Simply apply curl noise to the hair curve and then use a ramp to blend between current P and P with the noise on, so your curve stays anchored and the the mid body / tip moves.

Thanks Rob. I've managed to get a decent result. Just need to tweak the wind speed and wind draft spacing a bit more realistic.

Seems like overkill >

for a shot that distance away Id just use hair and some fake dynamics >

Actually I'm planning to dolly in, so kind of need that detail. What approach should I use to fake the wind dynamics? I want layers of wind just as it happens in the real world grassy field.

Fur grass with wind Oct. 17, 2016, 10:39 p.m.

Hello All, I'm trying to create a grassy landscape with a soft wind blowing across the field. As per the common method to create grass, I'm copying a nurbs line on to my skin surface points and using the fur procedural to render the grass blades. I've used expressions on the bend SOP to fake the wind, however this setup does not give me realistic wind control and motion. Hence I tried a second setup, by creating a POPNET giving me greater control over the motion and direction of the wind. After the POPNET, I connect an ADD SOP to create primitives and then a convert SOP and convert each blade guide into NURBS. However, when I try rendering this setup, I can barely see any grass…it's more like some stubble. and the guide controls on the fur procedural barely seem to make a difference. Kindly guide me as to what is incorrect with my setup and if there are any suggestions to approach this in a different way!
Thanks!
