Accessing primitives length for size relative UV mapping March 5, 2014, 8:37 a.m.
Hi Guys,
Thanks to you, I get the feature functionnal.
@ Tamte : Your method is perfectly working. I know get a better vision of the way Houd works
@Joker : My problem was about pushing consistante UV on Primitives. Have a look to the Att. Houdini file for more detail.
Included, my scene.
Big up guys !

Accessing primitives length for size relative UV mapping March 3, 2014, 11:10 a.m.
Hi all,
First of all, sorry this question is probably hubber newbee centric…My Houdini knowledge is pretty low ops:
So, relatively to “Hoses & Pipes” tutorial, I would like to access primitives length (after the Carve op that breaks the main Curve in Primitives) to create a size relative uv mapping for the pipes (each pipe primitive will receive a correct UV param. depending of its own length)
Right now I succeed in getting the overall curve size and push an expression on UV mapping node, but no success in trying to get each primitives length.
My though are going to :
- It should be nice if Houdini can parse the primitive array for me, and apply the right UV length by primitive
- It will be nice if I can do that with a simple expression.
- It's seems easy by coding a loop, but this will probably impact performances a while. And what should be the best way between the various languages available ?
Anyone can help ?
Thanks
