What's the current state of Houdini Engine support for Unity Sept. 17, 2016, 10:52 p.m.

There was a recent presentation on PCG in Unity at UniteEurope2016 and not a single mention of Houdini!!

Pretty huge omission IMHO.
I just watch this video and that guy is talking about general PCG programming concepts. Houdini is a famous 3D software but that's nothing to do with game programming.
This may sounds harsh, I would suggest SideFX make Houdini popular first. At least those tradional licenses is pretty out-of-date nowadays. My friends just walk away when they saw that pipeline and non-commercial limitations. Seriously, SideFX keep refusing indies.
