so, I have tried to trouble shoot this by reading some entries on this forum and I am getting nowhere fast. I have downloaded build 11.0.733 and I am trying to install it on a machine running Windows XP 64 bit with a Quadro FX 3700 (513 MB). Everytime that I click on Side Effects>Houdini OR Side Effects>administrative tools>License administrator, I get “the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok to terminate..”. I have tried:

• turning off my firewall completely AND adding Houdini as an exception;
• turning off my virus protection (kapersky) completely and adding Houdini as a trusted app;
• Adding new various environment variables to a value of 1; and
• Verified that I don't have any editions of Windows Live

…and nothing works!
I hope that there is something very obvious that I am missing, because I would love to play with this application. I guess I should've made sure that it installed first before paying $99…dumb move. But, since softimage, maya and cinema 4D run fine on my machine…I thought there wouldn't be any issue.
