It's funny i was supposed to be in a ("traditional") animation class right at the same time when you posted this, but the zoom link didn't work for me. So, this is my class today. thanks!

I've been needing a crash course on all the new animation tools! Nice because it is blending those traditional concepts too.

    Much appreciated!

No kidding, same story here. My son was told by a high school teacher to look up the 12 principles for his film class. And now I can recommend this as a starter to the topic, while showing him how cool Houdini is ;)

Immediately book marked it (along with 90% of tuts by SideFX). Feeling spoiled.

These are great videos! It looks like the mocap for the exaggeration video is missing in the download. It would be great to follow along in that video like the rest of them. Even without it though these are so helpful, thank you.

If it is the mocap missing from the FBX Animation Import SOP, everything still works after the APEX Scene animate. Still glad to have the setup displayed even with the missing FBX (I can find one from mixamo, of course) because it verifies the Documentation for how to wire the mocap retargeting.

Massive Easter Egg in here: I never noticed the autorig builder gives you a slider from stretching you IK targets and Spine! Thanks for showing that (in 7:Exaggeration)!

    Hello.

I am new to Houdini Animation. I wonder how to turn the weighted tangents back to default tangents?

    • giapvo84 2 weeks ago  |

I've read the document and realize in Houdini, to work like Maya, I have to turn the animCurves to Cubic and using Curve Pulling to work like in default Maya. However, I wish it will still show the non-weighted tangents too.

Houdini is for technical know-how. I tried following through many of these very basic tutorials. It's always trying to find things in the program that I see in the videos. It's never a smooth sail. It's frustrating and extremely time-consuming.

Probably these frustrations are due to low-quality video and difficulty seeing what is being clicked and typed.
