Attributes play an important role in procedural workflows and this lesson shows you how to work with them in Houdini. You will also explore the copy node which can use those attributes to control the outcome.

    hello sir,

but in this tutorial i stuck at a part where i can not find checkbox before the output group in group expand node.
it will be a honour for me if you help me with this problem.

Same thing, can't find the checkbox in group expand... In others tutoriels, i see it is there, i wonder if it is because i use the apprentice version?

    • TomHollis 3 years, 11 months ago  |

I think this is a change from the version Rohan is using in the tutorial (18.0.285) vs the current version (18.0.469).

I solved this by setting the groupexpand Group to "a" and the Output Group to "a". No checkbox required.

If this isn't the correct method, please let me know.

    Hi! I love your Class.

I have some trouble with my lines. When i link the polyware the line is not a perfect tube, but insted a oval tube. The same happens when i render my lines, they become a "brick"

For those who is having the same problem with the oval shape: Go back to object mode and change the scale X of the geo back to 1. At some point, you probably scaled the object instead of the geometry. The same just happened to me.

there seems to be some kinda bug with the copy stamp, it makes ur entire object invisible when using transform instead of scaling in primitive properties. for some reason it works now, even tho I tested this a few times andit didn't work then, and that was on a complete fresh scene.

    Doesn't work for me.
I can t even tranform it am stuck in first 10 minutes.
After rescaling box some new object appears called edit and I can t make it work with copy stamp node.

@44:10 :: Great tutorial but I can't seem to get the mask to appear in my viewport. If I add a color node, color does appear, but the red mask doesn't appear on the grid.

NM! Selecting the "Show Handle" option on the left side of the viewport unborked it.

Color randomizer doesn't seem to randomize color on the boxes. Only on the points. and if i add color node, it only colorize the points. Not the boxes

Hello! I realized in the new update they don't have the copy stamp node anymore.. Do you have any suggestions for a replacement method?
