I have a rat file with all the z depth info is there a way i can use it for doing cutouts with volumes in mantra

I just learned from side-fx, the easiest way is to load the rat as a background in your rop. (You'll need to add the vm_background settings).

The other way is to use dsmmerge and dsmflatten.

its even easier to drop it into the background of your rendering camera since the ‘background image’ parm already exists on default cams…
