Particle Render Size

What would be the better approach to create gritty/heavy dust, the type that falls from demolishing a wall. I tried using particles but they seem to render out really large and using the smoke presets seems to be too wispy for what I'm after.

a fluid sim/volume render is the way to do this for sure.

if the presets don't look good dial the settings til it looks rad.

as far as the particles rendering out really large, add a point sop to them and reduce the pscale (under the particle tab)
