Hi folks,
I'm new here and to Houdini and was wondering if there were any good books written on Houdini. The videos are great but I'm from the old school, in other words I'm old, and like to have something to use as a reference when I need it and trying to watch the video and follow the examples in Houdini is tough on my system.

Thanks in advance,
Pete

I don't think that there has ever been enough demand to justify a third party book on Houdini…but now with the Apprentice Edition that may change, have to wait and see.

Side Effects have recently taken on Rob Magee as their Customer Experience Specialist (whatevr that means). If I'm not mistaken, he designed and co-authored both ‘Learning Maya’ and ‘The Art of Maya’.
To employ someone with such a proven track record and not release a Houdini book, would be very odd indeed.

Well, lets hope they come up with a book. I like to get my hands on as much information as I can.

Can't miss this opportunity

Anyway, odforce [odforce.net] has a ton of information and scripts for Houdini. Alot of it is from previous versions. But they're really nice to look at once you know your way around the package. It gives an idea on how to approach things in Houdini.

Cheers
