Are there any plans to implement this in Houdini? It seems quick, easy, and fast. It's about 30 times faster than the cpu subdiv Houdini does now. It could offer the same performance as cached subdivided meshes without the disk usage!
Pixar OpenSubdiv hits 1.0, fully open-source. Houdini?

Thanks for the links. OpenSubdiv's adaptive tessellation capability looks incredible, and appears to ensure prestine surface detail at all resolutions. Some of Pixar's recent product presentations help illustrate the technology's speed and production advantages.
