hey,

Currently at work we only have a limited number of houdiniFX licences. During downtime I like to do tutorials, do my tests to better understand houdini or other none production related tasks. If I'm working on a hipnc file is there anyway i can release the houdiniFX lic for people who need it for production?

A .hipnc file will force Houdini FX into a non-commercial Apprentice mode. But Houdini sill needs to consume a license, and if only commercial licenses are available, it will need one of those.

One way you could set the licensing up, is to install non-commercial license on the license server (sesinetd) that is running on your workstation. Then point your Houdini to it with the License Administrator (hkey), File > Change License Server..

But be extremely careful not to mix this non-commercial exercises with your production work, otherwise you will taint the production assets with non-commercial stamps. Ie, always switch back to your studio's sesinetd.
