Now that the Surface Pro 2 has just been announced I was interested to know if anyone got Houdini running on of of the old Surface Pros? It would be cool to have a tablet that could let me fire up houdini and have a play!

Houdini 13 should run natively on the newer Intel GPUs on Windows8, but with some features disabled (notably HQ Lighting and AA), using the GL2.1 renderer. There are still some lingering bugs in their GL driver that prevent the use of the GL3 renderer, and one that prevents the use of antialiasing (lines won't draw).

How do you intend to use the mouse buttons? Or you'll just plug in a mouse? )

Would have been nice to have a pen with 3 buttons like the wacom one .

well the pro does come with a wacom style stylus… not sure about how many buttons or if you could use a different stylus though

Some utility would be useful to have mouse buttons emulated by pressing multiple fingers at a screen corner or something… It would be interesting to use Houdini with touch / gestures.

So Ive had my Surface Pro 2 256GB for a little while and have been able to have a play with Houdini. Works pretty well!
Then I ran in to this:

WOW!! I can use Houdini without a keyboard now!! And it can emulate all mouse buttons so navigation is a breeze!
This is awesome fun!
When I get some time I'm going to make a Houdini specific version of this.
I have also installed the wacom driver so I can set the other stylus button to MMB (which is used a bit more in houdini) still have long press for RMB.
