I'm unable to render, though MPlay window opens (black screen no image). I'm using Houdini HD version 10.0.463 on a Windows 32bit vista setup The error shown in the console is:

UT_NetPacket::write: No error
mantra: Error writing data to image device

So far I've checked that hmaster & Mplay are excluded from Window firewall
deleted “houdini10.0” (config) a couple of times and restarted Houdini
Reinstalled Houdini twice.

I've seen this issue in a search but not a clear fix

anyone?

update:

Tech support have come back to me (best tech support in the 3d industry ) and believe it to be:

“ A communication problem. Houdini is not opening the packet it is supposed to, to send info to mplay.”

from some initial tests.

I'm currently getting the same error:

using win 7 64 bit Houdini Version - 10.0.554

IMG_TileWrite::socketWrite: No such file or directory
mantra: Error writing data to image device

any ideas?

it could be related to a firewall settings or an anti-virus software:

I got the same issue all the time, very annoying when you want to render over night, did anyone ever find a solution to this?
