creating own skin shader

Hi,

i am totally new to houdini and i just watched a tutorial on how to create your own physical based shader. To implement the physical sss shader you have to create a parameter called Ce (for emission?) to get the sss work.
The guy in the tutorial said that i don`t need to connect it to any output.
But for some reason it doesn`t work for me.
Has anything changed in houdini for the last version?


Is there also a difference between the sss in the surface model node and the physical based sss node?

I also heard that i need a pointcloud to get proper sss results. There should be two options, pointcloud based sss and raytraced sss. How can i find these two different models.
