Anyone know how to export an ABC with an attribute attached to instanced packed prims?

ie: in the ABC, the mesh is shared across instances. I would like the attribute to live on the transform node.

I don't want to unpack/attach the attribute on each mesh, as you lose the benefits of instancing.

is what I'm after possible?
