Production build says 15.5.480, daily build says 15.0.481 - which I assume is the newer build with the .5 missing?

I ask because the actual Houdini application also states 15.0.481?

15.5 is based off of 15.0, so the build numbers are the same for the same day.

I get that 15.5 is based off of 15.0, but shouldn't the daily build be 15.5 or have I just happened upon the downloads screen on a bad week when 15.5 doesn't yet have a daily build?… I wish Houdini had a self-updating mechanism.

Generally when SESI releases a new version of Houdini they don't release the daily builds for that version until a few days afterwards. I'd expect to see daily 15.5 builds start appearing early next week, most likely Tuesday since Canada is on holiday on Monday.

The .481 daily build point release is NOT a 15.5 build. I confirmed that as it uses the 15.0 preferences.
