Hello,

I was looking at a tutorial at pluralsight on using mcp but I can't seem to get any results.

I rendered to disk 500 frames and then brought up a shell from the opened hip file I was using and at the command prompt entered the following:

mcp -v -f 1 500 .\render\test asset.mantra1.$F4.exr -o myfirstavi.avi

But I get no results, I don't get any error messages either, only some of the same info is displayed when you just type and enter mcp.

In the tutorial at this point a pop up window quering for video compression options is shown after which the process is finished giving the resulting file.

Any suggestions of what may be going on with my situation?

Not sure. Have you tried just using mplay for exporting your movie?

EDIT: This also assumes that you have come codec capable of encoding videos, which does *NOT* come by default for Windows.

just wanted to add djv imaging since its a pretty neat tool and faster than mplay:

Yeah Edward no problems with mplay and exporting from there.

Just wanted to be able to learn how to use mcp since it's there in Houdini

And thanks Doudini for the reference I haven't heard of. Will have to try that tool.
